While not necessarily strange to be a friend of Harleen Quinzel, it's still a bit surprising to land on top of a building, change swiftly into Clark Kent guise-- you know, minus the suit and plus a baggy shirt and sweatpants-- and then make his way to her door.
He's never had a specific night for pyjamas. When Lois was still alive, they just called that bedtime, and the Justice League obviously wouldn't go for it.
In any case, he knocks, pushing his glasses up his nose. And when he sees Harley there's a slow, definitely gentle smile. ]
[ Far be it for Clark to refuse a hug, though when he returns it he barely exerts any strength himself. Remembering how Harley used to be before, there's something truly hopeful about seeing her the way she is now, though he imagines Bruce wouldn't be even the slightest bit amused at the pattern of her clothing. ]
Hey, Harley. Thanks for inviting me.
[ He's brought a bag with him, which he holds up now as he enters Harley's flat and closes the door behind him. ] I wasn't sure if I had to bring anything? Jason likes hot chocolate and the season's cold enough for it, so I thought it wouldn't be too bad.
[Harley still is her own personal Ray of Sunshine. And she beams brightly, stepping back so Clark can enter her apartment. It is a bachelorette pad, so kitchen and living room in one open concept room. And looks like she has already made a pillow fort by using the couch and some cushions.]
Ya'know you are welcome over any time.
Hot chocolate would be great. I got some marshmellows.
Oh, [ Clark chuckles, sending Harley a soft smile ] that'd make it perfect.
[ Jason loved marshmallows in his hot chocolate, too.
Clark makes his way into the living room, and the sight of the pillow fort garners a short laugh. ] Wow, I haven't seen one of those in... [ Years, really. There's a kind of sad reverence to it, to the way Clark puts his bag down on the floor and then crouches so he can look up at the ceiling of the fort Harley made. ]
[ Is that-- is he supposed to laugh at that joke? Somehow, Clark just feels a little guilty. ] ...I'd hope so.
It's nice, though. Cosy. [ He's crouched himself, poking at a blanket before he decides to sit crisscross applesauce on the floor. ] I've never seen one I could fit under before.
[ Clark turns to look at Harley then, smiling. ] You really did want me here, huh?
[Harley's sense of humor still needs some work. She got used to having to make bad jokes around her ex. It helped her survive.]
[She settles in on a pillow, close beside Clark. And pulls out some snacks from a small chest of drawers that is being used as a support wall. There are marhsmellows, chocolates, apples, crackers, licorice, and of course the gummy worms. She beams at him, and leans to rest her head on his arm. Because she is a zero-personal space type of gal]
Am I? [ Clark finds himself stifling the soft laugh that wants to leave him at all the sweets Harley's pulled out-- how she thought she wouldn't get a sugar rush from this is a mystery. ]
Gosh, I thought all we had to worry about was gummy worms. This... [ The pause is lengthened for just a few more beats for dramatic effect. ] This is some pretty heavy duty sugar.

But two sexy girls? In sexy PJs. Spending the night together...
And your mind don't wander?
LMAO "YOU MIGHT BE A BOY SCOUT" IS SO FUCKING FUNNY
Unless you decide to cause destructive mayhem.

Makes me sad you only worry about me causing destructive mayhem. I have been hurt by so much...

Are there other things I should be worried about?
no subject
Me in general? I mean we are friends too. Right?
no subject
Oh, Harley, I'm so sorry for being insensitive.
Yes, of course. Of course we're friends. You're doing your best. I know you are.
I do worry about your well-being. That's why I'm hoping you aren't up to anything dangerous, you know.

But you know the type of baddies in my neighborhood. Sometimes I gotta head into danger... to protect those who can't.

It is more comforting to be surrounded by pillows and soft blankets.
Then ya'know…
Metal bars.
